Australia dependent child visa subclass 101 and visa subclass 802
These are permanent visas for dependent children of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or Eligible New Zealand citizen. With these visa the dependent children can live permanently in Australia with their parents.
Eligibility to apply for permanent Australia dependent child visa subclass 101 and visa subclass 802
- The dependent child must be under 18 years of age
Following exceptions apply to the age factor
- Over 18 years of age and below 25 years of age the child must be a full time student along with being financially dependent on parents
- Over 18 years of age and unable to work because of being disabled
The child must be single along with being dependent on the parent
Difference between Australia dependent child visa subclass 101 and visa subclass 802
Both these are permanent Australia dependent child visa for applicants whose parents need to be Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or Eligible New Zealand citizen. The difference is in terms of where the applicant is at the time of submission of Australia child visa. If the location of the child is onshore that is the child is in Australia during the time when the application is submitted and decided then the child visa subclass is 802.
If the location of the child is offshore that is the child is outside of Australia during the time when the application is submitted then the child visa subclass is 101.

- 50 % of visa subclass 101 applications are decided within 16 months and 90 % of visa subclass 101 applications are decided within 29 months
- 50 % of visa subclass 802 applications are decided within 14 months and 90 % of visa subclass 802 applications are decided within 23 months
