Out of these 3 years the applicant may stay in New Zealand for a total of 18 months period. This means that despite the visa validity being 3 years you cannot stay for 3 years in New Zealand. The stay period is of 18 months. Furthermore at one time you may only stay for continuous period of 6 months. This means that the continuous stay in New Zealand must not be more than 6 months.
