New Zealand study visa requirements 2022

New Zealand Government has recently announced its border reopening in a phased manner in 2022.

The border reopening of New Zealand in 2022 which could be of interest to students aspiring to study in NZ is of student visa grant to 5000 international students who would be able to apply for New Zealand student visa and travel to NZ to study for July 2022 intake. Immigration New Zealand would start accepting applications for this in April 2022.

Another border reopening phase as announced by the government which could be of interest to students is when the normal processing of student visa is resumed. This would be in October 2022.

First requirement – Academic requirement for study in NZ

This is one of the requirements. Your must meet academic requirements to get admission in a New Zealand college or university and apply for the student visa to NZ.

Students who have done 12th can choose to do

  • 2 year diplomas programs- Level 5 and level 6 Diploma courses.
  • The second choice they have is to do a Bachelors degree which is at level 7 of the New Zealand qualification framework.

If you already hold a Bachelors degree then you may opt for

  • Graduate diploma level 7 of 1 year duration. Post Graduate diploma of about 18 months to 2 years is also an option for you.
  • Students may also choose to do a Masters degree at level 9 of the New Zealand qualification framework.

Second requirement -English language requirements for NZ study visa

As a part of their application process students also need to meet English language requirements. Students may meet this by providing an English language test score in the form of IELTS or a PTE score card. The score may vary depending on the course you wish to study in New Zealand.

Third requirement NZ study abroad -Funds requirement

Having enough funds to support you is yet another requirement the students need to fulfil. If you do not enough funds that are acceptable as per the policy of INZ then you may not be able to get your Visa to study in New Zealand. As the requirement the students need to show funds for the entire duration of the course which includes your tuition fee for the course and cost of living. The funds for first year must be readily available for use and funds for subsequent years of study and cost of living may be shown as a payment plan.

Fourth requirement -Family income requirements for NZ study abroad

The next requirement is of having family income documents. Students need to have the verifiable evidence of their family income. The documents would depend on the profession your parents have. If your parents are in a government job then you may provide evidence of their job like form 16, income tax returns, GPF statements, bank account statement where the salary is credited. If you belong to a business family then attach evidence if your business like firm registration certificates, company registration certificates, current account statements. Fifth requirement – Health requirements

Health is another requirement which the applicants need to meet. You must have the health standards as acceptable by Immigration New Zealand. If you fail to meet the health standards then your visa application may be refused.

Students wishing to study in NZ must also meet the character requirements as set by Immigration New Zealand. Applicants need to provide police clearance certificate with their visa application.
