If you choose to study a Bachelors degree in New Zealand which is level 7 of New Zealand qualification framework then you may be eligible for a post study work visa of up to 3 years. The maximum duration of PSW visa for New Zealand is 3 years. Below are examples for further clarification
Example 1
For 3 years of Bachelors degree at level 7 the New Zealand PSW visa duration is of 3 years
Example 2
For 4 Years of Bachelors honours degree at level 8 the New Zealand Post study work visa after successful completion of study in New Zealand is 3 years.
Students must note that they would be eligible for PSW after the completion of study while on New Zealand student visa irrespective of the stream of the Bachelors degree.
Diploma qualifications at level 6 or below level 6
Students can choose to study a Diploma after 12th in New Zealand. If you choose to study Diploma then you must take care that the qualification is relevant to an occupation which is mentioned in the green list. If the qualification is not relevant to an occupation on the green list then you may not qualify for the post study work visa as per the changes announced on 11 May 2022. If you choose to study PhD in New Zealand then as per the policy international applicants would be eligible for 3 years of post study work visa after successful completion of the study program
Study Masters Degree in New Zealand
If you choose to study Masters Degree in New Zealand which is at level 9 of the New Zealand qualification framework then the PSW visa would be of 3 years after completion of the study program
Study Post graduate Diploma in New Zealand
If you choose to study Post graduate Diploma in New Zealand which is level 8 of the New Zealand qualification framework then as per the latest updates about New Zealand study visa announced on 11 May 2022 students would be eligible for a post study work visa . The duration of the post study work visa would equal to the duration of the course.
Example 1
For example if you choose to do a 1 year of PG Diploma in New Zealand which is at level of NZQF then as per the latest changes announced on May 11, 2022 you would be eligible for a New Zealand post study work visa of 1 year.
Example 2
Another example could be of student choosing to do a 18 months Post graduate diploma at level 8 of NZQF then as per the latest update about New Zealand student visa the student would be eligible for a post study work visa of 18 months.
Graduate Diploma at level 7
If you choose to study graduate diploma at level 7 of NZQF then as per the latest updates about New Zealand student visa announced on 11 May 2022 students would be eligible for a post study work visa if your study program is relevant to an occupation in the green list. If the qualification is not relevant to the Occupation in New Zealand green list then you may not qualify to apply for a PSW visa.
Further the duration of the PSW visa if you qualify would be of the same duration of course of study.
