Let us understand these steps in detail-

STEP 1: Choose a relevant course

Choosing a relevant course is one of the important factors determining the success of your student visa New Zealand application. The Immigration Officer would look – whether your proposed course is relevant to your academic background or not. Any irrelevance in the course you have chosen to study in New Zealand with your previous study may lead to doubt about your intention to study in New Zealand. If your career progression is not clear; you may risk your student visa New Zealand application being refused. Relevance of your proposed course is one of the positive factors of your study visa application.

STEP 2: Prepare your Statement of Purpose carefully

As the name suggests you need to state your purpose in this letter and your purpose is to study in New Zealand. Mention in your Statement of Purpose your reasons to study abroad and particularly why you chose to study in New Zealand. Mention about the research you have done to choose your university/college and your course. Be very specific about how your course would benefit you in terms of further career opportunities. Give reasons why didn’t you choose to study in similar courses available in your home country. Statement of Purpose is a very important document supporting your New Zealand study visa application. So take utmost care while preparing this.

STEP 3: Address any gaps in your education and work history. Be sure that you have verifiable documentation to support your claims

Address any gaps in your education and work history. If you won’t, it may create problems with your application. Any unexplained gaps may raise doubts of you being not a genuine student. The explanation supporting your study gap or work experience gap must be supported by acceptable documentary evidence. The onus is on the applicant to provide genuine explanation.

STEP 4: Support your work experience with acceptable documents

Immigration New Zealand is very particular about the documents you provide in support of your experience. Only experience letters may not be sufficient to prove that you have genuinely worked for your respective employer. There is a wide range of documents you may be required to submit like salary account statement, salary slips, GPF/EPF statements, appointment letters, etc.

STEP 5: Be sure that you are sponsored by your immediate family members

Immigration New Zealand accepts funds only from your spouse, parents, grandparents, siblings and parents-in-law for your study in New Zealand student visa application. Any person other than above mentioned relation cannot support your study visa application. If you provide financials of other relations, your application may not be approved.

STEP 6: Acceptable funds as defined by INZ

You must provide acceptable evidence of funds with your student visa New Zealand application. You must have liquid funds for the first year of your course. Acceptable evidence of funds includes FDRs, education loan letters, GPF, and EPF Statements. Your savings in the bank must be old and must be verifiable. If you are providing funds from gold loan, Kisan credit cards, property sale or agricultural income than these funds must be 6 months old at the time of your Student Visa Lodgment application. Along with this, the source must also be verifiable.
