There are certain requirements by the universities or colleges, the applicants need to meet before they can apply for their chosen Masters by coursework program in Australia. The two main basic requirements for the students are academic requirements and English language requirements (IELTS).

For the academic requirements, the students are required to have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institute. In their bachelor’s degree, the students must have scored at least 55%-65%, depending on the section of the university they have done their bachelor’s degree in India. The required percentage might be higher, depending on the university and course you wish to do.

In the English language proficiency part, the students are required to give the IELTS exam, and score at least 6.5 overall bands and 6.0 minimum bands in all the modules (reading, writing, speaking and listening).

For the students who meet the academic requirements but do not meet the English language requirements; for example having 6.5 overall bands but in one the modules, only have 5.5 bands. In this case, the students will not be able to do meet the direct entry requirements, so they have an option to do ELICOS course OR a foundation program offered by the university.

Before enrolling or commencing the main Master’s program, the applicants are required to do an ELICOS or foundation course, and the total duration of these program is 10 weeks. Therefore, in this way, the students will be able to do Master by coursework in Australia.

In case, the students meet the IELTS requirements and have sufficient bands to get direct entry into the Master’s program, but do not have the required % marks in the bachelors degree, these students can opt for pre-master’s program, before commencing their main Master by coursework program.
