State Nominations for Australia

Several visas oblige you to acquire nomination from a territory or a state government or get sponsorship from a suitable relative.  The Victorian government offers state nomination to certain abroad skilled workers and business people who have got skill set and business acumen.  The state nomination is providing support for your application for some general skilled migration or business visas.

To apply for the visa, you must contact DIBP that manages the Australian visa application and approval processes.  State nomination does not give you surety that you will be granted a visa. The Victorian government is eligible for nominating highly skilled and employable professionals who have experience, skills and occupations. Victoria participates in Skilled Nominated (190 visa) and Skilled regional (489 visa).

Business visa applicants are also encouraged by Victorian Government to support a particular business or business person to Australia. To become eligible for the Victorian government state nomination, candidates should meet the basic requirements of department of Immigration and Border Protection.  They should also abide by the latest Victorian government minimum eligibility requirements for a nominated business visa and to be able to address all the assessment criteria in your application fees if you are applying for visa nomination for a skilled visa.

This visa allows you to work and live in Australia being a permanent resident.  If you are invited, then you are qualified to apply for this visa.  You should also meet the following requirements if you are sent a letter of invitation, such as:-

  • You have not turned 50 years of age yet
  • You have listed an occupation that is related according to the relevant occupation list
  • You have achieved the score that is specified in your letter of invitation
  • You have been nominated by an Australian state or territory government agency
  • You have got flair in English

 You are supposed to submit an expression of interest when you will be invited through SkillSelect.  If you receive an invitation, you will have nearly 60 days to apply for the visa.  Once submitted, you cannot change the information of your expression of interest.  A state or territory government will examine once you have submitted your expression of interest.
